AMALGEROL® ESSENCE

Better seedling survival after transplantation with AMALGEROL ESSENCE

Fruit tree rootstocks are often produced by micropropagation. For this method of vegetative reproduction a piece of twig including the apex and some buds is grown in a sterile medium for about one year. After that the seedlings are transplanted to soil. At this point, the mortality rate is highest, often up to 50 %.

At the National Agricultural Research and Innovation Centre in Budapest, we tested if AMALGEROL ESSENCE could decrease the mortality rate of plum seedlings buffering the transplanting shock.

Each seedling received 40 ml of an 0,1 % AMALGEROL ESSENCE solution when transplanted and another 2 applications in 2 week intervals.

Two experiments were run parallel, Experiment A with 15 seedlings, Experiment B with 25 seedlings. AMALGEROL ESSENCE increased the survival rate in both experiments (Fig. 1 + 2).
