AMALGEROL®
This trial report details the findings of a field trial conducted in Turkey's Aegean Region in Mugla during the 2024 growing season. The study's primary objective was to evaluate the efficacy, crop safety and effects on yield of AMALGEROL (AM).
The trial was performed on a 16-year-old orchard of 'Starking' variety apples. The field trial was executed locally by Fitomed´s research team, and the study ran from May till Oktober 2024. The trial followed a randomized complete block (RCB) design with 5 treatments, 6 replications and for a total of 30 plots. Each of the plots contained 3 trees and measured around 60m² (5mx12m), and the treatments were applied via four separate foliar application at a volume of 200l/ha.
The performance of AMALGEROL, was compared against an untreated control (UTC) to provide a clear benchmark for its effectiveness, on plant vigor, chlorophyll content, fruit quality and overall yield.
The trial confirmed that the tested biostimulant is safe, with no signs of phytotoxicity or negative effects on non-target organisms.
This field trial demonstrated that AM is a reliable tool for growers looking to improve their harvest. Application at 5l/ha delivered consistent, positive results across all key parameters, like growth and quality metrics, when compared to untreated trees. The trial highlights include an increased apple harvest, by a significant 19,7% raising the yield to 45,9 tons per hectare from the untreated control 38,3 tons per hectare (Fig.1). Trees treated with AM visibly healthier and more vigorous, providing a higher vigor score of 8,5 compared to just 5,0 in untreated trees (Fig.5).
Following the AM treatment, trees showed an outstanding chlorophyll content of 45,4 SPAD (Fig.4) indicating enhanced energy production. This led to an increase in sugar content of the apples (Fig.3). Treatments with AM positively influence marketability with the reduction of unmarketable fruit from 3,4% to 1,7% ensuring a more profitable harvest[Fig.6). Furthermore, growers can expect improved size distribution, with a shift toward larger apples after the AM treatment (Fig.2).
This trial shows that AMALGEROL is a safe and reliable way to get more out of your apple production. It helps you grow bigger yields and better-quality fruit, giving you a solid return and making it a smart choice for your orchard.
